As a standard it is possible to apply tiles – without taking further measures – with a max. weight up to 50 kg/m² in the interiors and a tile size up to 600 mm x 600 mm. Set studs at maximum 625 (600) mm for horizontal and vertical installation of the boards.
What is Knauf Aquapanel?
Knauf AQUAPANEL® Cement Board Indoor is a tough impact and water resistant glass fibre reinforced cement tile backer board for walls. It is a lightweight board that is easy to install and suitable for use in indoor wet and humid areas, resisting the development of mould and mildew.
Is aqua board the same as cement board?
Cement board and aqua boards are different in that cement boards are just waterproof and aqua boards are both waterproof and water resistant. If you’re unsure whether you should use cement board for tiling or aqua board for tiling, consider how much water your tiles will come into contact with.
Is Knauf Aquapanel waterproof?

Do you need to tank aquaboard?
Yes the aquapanel is impervious to water but the penetration will happen in the joints specially corners. For few pound more you will have peace of mind so my advice is to tank it.
Can AQUAPANEL be fixed directly to a wall?
Fill the board joints with tile adhesive. Alternatively you can apply the tile adhesive perimeter strip and dabs directly to the wall.
